Installation: EchoStudio

Installing the EchoStudio Eclipse Plugin

Once Eclipse is installed, download EchoStudio. EchoStudio will be delivered to you as a ZIP file.

Unpack the downloaded ZIP file. On WindowsXP, this can be done by right clicking the file's icon and choosing "Extract All..." (Figure 1) On earlier Windows operating systems, a utility such as WinZip is required to unpack the downloaded file. (Figure 2)

You should now have a new folder named nextapp.es.1.0.alpha where you unpacked the ZIP file. Now open your Eclipse folder and notice the plugins folder. (Figure 3) Move the nextapp.es.1.0.alpha folder into the plugins folder.

EchoStudio is now installed.

Setting Your License Key

Trial License

Your download of EchoStudio includes a 30-day trial license key. For your convenience, the license key has already been set for you, so you will not need to perform any additional steps to use EchoStudio.

The 30 days starts from the date of download. During the trial period, you have access to all of the features of EchoStudio for your evaluation.

Full License

Once you purchase EchoStudio, you will be emailed a license key. To notify EchoStudio of your new license, open the Window menu, then click on the Preferences item. (Figure 4) This opens the Preferences window.

On the left side of the window are the preference categories. One of the categories is named Echo. (Figure 5) Expand it and click on the Licensing item exposed. This opens the EchoStudio Licensing Information panel. (Figure 6)

Click the Set License Key button. This opens a window into which you can type or paste your license key. (Figure 7) Once you have entered your license key in the test area, click OK.

If you entered a valid license key, the Echo Licensing Information panel will display a green bar and state that the key is valid. (Figure 8)
