Installing the Java2 Software Development Kit

The Eclipse IDE requires the Java2 Software Development Kit (JDK) version 1.4.2 or later. Download and install the Java2 SDK from Sun's Java developer site. Make sure that you download the SDK and not the JRE. You can ignore the download options that include Sun's NetBeans IDE.

Follow the installation instructions provided by Sun. For Windows, Sun distributes a normal Windows application installer for the JDK.
